By now I've come to terms with the fact that I wasn't born ten years earlier, or cognoscente at the age of oh, twelve, to witness so many of my favorite bands that killed during the 90s (see Slowdive, Ride, My Bloody Valentine, The Stone Roses...). But every once in a long while a band from the present day comes along that makes me feel like the era of lush, distorted, pedal-heavy loudness still lives on. Austin band Ringo Deathstarr, who graced us at Cactus Club last night, stepped up the usual sound reminiscent of the era with a wall of noise comparable to heavy riffers like High on Fire and Neurosis. Do yourself a favor and see them on tour (plus, they're real cute and nice)!
